The homeowner chose to elevate the island with a double-laminated edge that blends the timeless Ogee profile with a rounded Bullnose finish, adding both sophistication and strength.
To complete the look, custom shelving was crafted from the same quartz material, tying the entire space together with a cohesive design. This detail not only enhances functionality but also introduces a refined touch that makes the kitchen feel both modern and thoughtfully customized.

Quartz countertops are an engineered stone product made primarily from crushed natural quartz crystals, one of the hardest minerals on Earth. These crystals are mixed with a small amount of resins, polymers, and pigments, and then pressed into slabs. This manufacturing process creates a non-porous, highly durable, and beautiful surface that is more consistent and stain-resistant than natural stone.
Quartz is extremely durable and resistant to scratches, thanks to the hardness of the natural quartz it contains. However, it is not impervious to damage. While it can handle everyday heat, it’s not as heat-resistant as granite. We recommend always using a trivet or hot pad under hot pans, as extreme heat can scorch the resin in the countertop and cause permanent discoloration.
Maintaining quartz countertops is incredibly easy due to their non-porous nature. For daily cleaning, simply wipe the surface with a soft cloth and mild soap and water. Avoid using harsh, abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as these can dull the finish. Since quartz is non-porous, it never needs to be sealed, making maintenance a breeze.
